A little about my design background

I started web design about 6 years ago with my online portfolio for photography. I am a technical person who strives to always make something better. Therefore, I kept learning and reworking my site to try to keep it fresh looking(to me anyway). I learned some SEO principles and read about web-trends and tried to evolve with them. In 2006 I made the move to focus more on my web design as a career path than photography. There were many factors in the decision including a move to Cleveland. So I went back to night school to certify my web skills and fill in the gaps of my own knowledge. This resulted in a Masters Certificate in Multimedia from Clark University CCI in November 2006. Since then I have done a few photography and web projects as a freelancer, some of which you can find here. Working on these projects has taught me that there is still a lot more that is expected of a designer than just xhtml and css. I have started to learn php and javascript (I can at least understand it enough to change a snippet for my purpose) to implement a CMS for one of my customers, so they can manage the site themselves. I chose the open-source Drupal, as it seems to fit their needs. This is very exciting working with the open-source community. I'm sure that I will come up to speed with this soon. I strive to use best practices and to write standards-compliant, semantic code that is lightweight and efficient. I am available for a web position or project.
